Celebrating Michael in Emigrant Wilderness – Labor Day Weekend, 2015

Over Labor Day Weekend, old friends and new gathered to celebrate the life of our friend Michael. We visited Kennedy Lake in the wonderfully quota-free Emigrant Wilderness.

We had a lot of fun from the moment we arrived – the group had graciously stayed up until Claire and I arrived near 11pm. Not only that, they had an awesome campfire and treats waiting for us. What a crew!

It was quite a nice trip. It was great catching up with old friends and making new ones. We saw a remarkable number of high alpine cows. Matt developed a following due to his ability to skip rocks. Much delicious food was consumed, some of which I would consider quite gourmet even by non-camping standards. Mosquitos were non-existent despite camping in the middle of a marsh. It was a great trip.

Photo credit to Gary for several of the photos throughout.

Great views throughout.

We even played Boticelli. JML, you would have had a great time. You are sorely missed, my friend.

  1. Dear Nicholas,

Thank you so much for sharing this adventure with me. I hope you don’t mind I forwarded it to Ari who is here. It must’ve been a bittersweet trip to be with Michael’s dad. Was Michael’s wife there as well? It looked like you all had fun and ate well and had beautiful scenery. Did you use your new camera? How do you like it? Is it hard to get used to how it works? I have a baby sleeping on my chest right now and Ari has made me breakfast and tea and Beth has gone to an all day meeting for work, Her first day back. She goes back for real on Monday.

I am so looking forward to seeing you on Monday. Are you coming from San Francisco or what? I don’t know whether Ari and Beth will be in Moraga that day since it is Betz first day back. If you want to see them we could wait to see you whether he’ll be in Moraga or not and plan accordingly about dining. I hope you have a great day today. By the way Ari said that you know the second in line whose in California for John Boehner’s position.

Enjoy your day my dear son whom I miss so much. Warm regards to Claire. Love, Mom Sent from my iPhone
